Mechanical Feeder, Auger Bunk Feeder
Feeder using an auger usually 9 inches in diameter but can be larger, in lengths of 10 feet. There is a hanger arch, every 10 feet, which controls the height of the feeder above the feed bunk and provides a bearing support for the auger. The sides of the feeder will generally be 29 x 128 plank with steel covers on top. The bottom is left open so that as the auger conveys feed, it builds up under the auger and moves down the length of the bunk. The feeder has one drive unit, which can be located on either end. To vary the height of the feed, the hanger arch is either raised or lowered by a screw handle on each hanger arch.
