Mechanical Feeder, Computerized

This feeder is used to supply grain and/or protein to individual animals, usually dairy cows. Feeding stations are usually 4 feet wide with an enclosed feeding area at the front of the station, and are connected to the feed source by conveyor(s). Each cow has a responder around its neck, which upon entering the feeding station, will activate the computer system telling the computer the cow’s identification and whether or not this animal is suppose to receive additional grain and or protein. If this animal is to receive additional feed, then the feeder delivers the amount programmed into the system for this animal into the feeding manager for the animal to eat. If this animal is not programmed to receive additional feed, then the feeder delivers no feed to the animal. Usually there will be one feeding station per 20 to 40 cows.
